If you run a driving range, golf course or golf entertainment venue, you can have ball-stop netting designed, engineered and installed by one contractor’s own crews, with a 5-year warranty on the installation. Gorilla Netting, founded in 2017, is headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with field operations in Kentucky.
Range and course netting you can have installed
Its crews design and install golf netting and ball-stop systems and set wood, steel and concrete poles for driving ranges, country clubs, golf entertainment venues and residential communities. For buyers of driving range equipment, that means partial or full range designs, bay divider netting, practice range enclosures and downrange perimeter netting. For new golf course construction or upgrades, it puts up barrier netting along fairways, out-of-bounds lines and boundaries next to roads and homes. Standard wood poles reach 60 ft above grade, which the company says suits ranges of about 250 to 275 yards, while staged steel poles go up to 180 ft. It also builds drone enclosures, litter control fencing and security perimeter netting.
Netting that protects your poles in storms
On a storm-prone site you can choose its patented Breakaway Netting System. Panels let go of the cables under excess wind, snow or ice load, protecting your poles and cables, and can be reattached.
What a turnkey job includes and what it costs
A turnkey job covers pole layout, foundations, pole setting, cable rigging, net hanging, tensioning, a final walkthrough and the 5-year warranty. You receive stamped engineering drawings for your permit application, which you or your general contractor file. Guide prices for new range or course netting run from $80,000 to $300,000 on wood poles and $200,000 to $3 million on steel, with re-netting on existing poles from $40,000 to $150,000. You can get a quote remotely from photos and site plans, and the online Gorilla Planner lets you explore layout and cost drivers first. When scoping practice facility and range construction, set these figures against the driving range equipment checklist.
Golf courses and ranges it has worked on
It is among the golf suppliers in the United States that send crews abroad, with a published range job in Kigali, Rwanda. At Bergen County’s Darlington Golf Course in Mahwah, New Jersey, it replaced storm-damaged 100 ft wood poles with 150 ft steel poles and polyester breakaway netting around a range of roughly 700 ft, a project it lists at $3 million. At Topgolf Tampa it fitted new skirts, repaired and replaced netting and repainted poles along about 1,422 linear ft of perimeter. Other range work includes Kigali Golf Resort & Villas, Green Chasers in Zephyrhills, Lost City Golf Club in Atlantis and Eagle Creek Country Club in Naples, Florida, each published with a cost band.
How long a project takes
Published timelines are 3 to 5 business days for a quote, 1 to 2 weeks of engineering review, 2 to 4 weeks for materials and 3 to 7 days on site for most projects.
Other golf suppliers listed here include Golf Range Netting, Huck Nets (UK) and Range Master Golf Services.
