If you run a golf course or sports field, you can get golf course equipment, parts and service from a family-owned John Deere dealer. Beard Equipment sells them through its Golf and Sports Turf division, from its store in Mobile, Alabama, and a network of branches across the Southeast.

Mowers, utility vehicles and turf machinery you can buy for your course

You can buy John Deere riding and walk greens mowers, fairway mowers, rough trim and surround mowers, aeration equipment and bunker and field rakes, plus Gator utility vehicles and ProGator turf utility vehicles. Alongside the golf course mowers, you can choose from allied turf brands including Wiedenmann, Bernhard, Progressive Turf Equipment, Agrimetal, Frontier Implements, Dakota Peat, Buffalo Turbine, Turfco, TruTurf, Steiner Turf, Lastec, 1st Products, Ryan Turf, Infinicut, SIP Grinder and Greensgroomer. Beard’s golf page lists both new and used turf equipment, and a parts inventory and several service centers back what you buy.

Where you can get golf equipment and support

The company publishes its golf territory as Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and beyond, which its about page puts at 13 states. Golf branches are in Mobile, Alabama; Ocala, Florida; Piedmont and Ridgeland, South Carolina; Shelbyville, Tennessee; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Nicholasville, Kentucky. The company is listed among golf suppliers in the United States.

Golf support and the courses it already covers

According to its website, Beard is the largest North American dealer for John Deere Golf and sports turf equipment and was the 2024 John Deere Dealer of the Year. The company says more than 100 of its employees work on golf, supporting over 3,000 golf courses, more than 100 sports turf programs and a number of PGA, LPGA and Korn Ferry events.

Software to manage your crew, labor costs and fleet

Beard also offers John Deere Operations Center PRO Golf. You can assign jobs on a digital workboard that syncs to crew phones, get text or email alerts before staff reach overtime, and export labor reports by hours and cost to PDF or Excel. For your equipment, it shows fleet status, schedules preventive maintenance, raises repair work orders, deducts parts from shop inventory with low-stock alerts and purchase orders, and produces uptime and cost-of-ownership reports. Those reports bear on the choice set out in the guide to buying golf course machinery new, used or leased.

Other Beard stores you can buy from

Beyond golf, Beard runs 10 construction and forestry stores between Mobile and Ocala that also handle Wirtgen Group, LeeBoy, Cemen Tech and Leica Geosystems equipment. Its Ag and Turf stores in Mobile, Pensacola, Panama City and Freeport sell compact utility tractors, lawn tractors and zero-turn mowers, along with STIHL and Honda Power Equipment.

Family ownership since 1970

William B. Beard Sr. founded the company in 1970 in Pensacola, Florida, and the third generation of the family now runs it.
