That factory is Turfco Manufacturing, a family-run maker of turf renovation and maintenance machines based in Blaine, Minnesota, in the United States.

Turfco’s history from mowers to topdressing

Turfco says it holds 16 patents, and it marked its centenary in 2019. It was founded in 1919 as the National Mower Company in St. Paul by Robert Stanard Kinkead, a war veteran, and first built reel, sickle bar and pull-behind mowers. According to its history page, it introduced the first mechanized topdresser in 1961, the Mete-R-Matic ground drive in 1981 to keep application rates steady at any speed, and the patented Chevron Belt for wet or dry material in 1993. The CR-10 material handler followed in 1999, WideSpin spinner technology in 2002, the TriWave 60 overseeder in 2006, the first Torrent blower in 2014 and the Torrent 2 with MagnaPoint Technology in 2016.
