If you look after greens, tees or bunkers in the UK, Mansfield Sand Company gives you rootzones, top dressings, divot fill and bunker sand made from silica sand it quarries itself at Two Oaks Quarry near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The company says it supplies more than 500 golf courses across the UK with rootzone, top dressing and bunker sand, and it publishes particle size and drainage figures for each blend, so you can check a blend before you order. Fine turf products for greens, tees and bunkers

You get a top dressing blended from its silica sands and soil, sterilized and screened over 3mm so it goes down free of stones and pebbles. Standard blends are USGA, 70/30 and 80/20, with bespoke blends made on enquiry for surface and aeration dressing. Mansfield Divot Fill mixes Mansil 40 medium sand with compost for divot repair on tees and fairways. Moist Mansil Bunker Sand is based on Mansil 35, and the company says it is compatible with its dressings, so splash onto the green should not cause problems. Its specification table lists a saturated hydraulic conductivity of 2423 for the bunker sand against 300 for the USGA dressing.

Rootzones for construction and renovation

For new builds or rebuilds you can choose sand soil rootzones in 60/40, 70/30, 80/20, 90/10 and USGA blends, including a Superior Rootzone of Mansil 40 sand and screened topsoil. Sand compost rootzones in 50/50, 60/40, 70/30 and 80/20 use PAS 100 green compost, which the company says helps hold nutrients and adds drought resistance. Delivery, pack sizes and free advice

You can take loose loads on 29 tonne articulated or 20 tonne rigid trucks, or order one tonne bulk bags and 25kg bags; the company fills more than 2 million bags a year. It reports a sand reserve of around 12 million tonnes. Free technical information and advice are offered on request.

Nearly 200 years of quarrying in Mansfield

Mansfield Sand says it has quarried sand in Mansfield for nearly 200 years and won a gold medal at the 1851 Great Exhibition for its Mansfield Red Moulding Sand. It has supplied materials for sports and landscape surfaces since the late 1980s, including the surface of the first all-weather racetrack at Southwell in 1989. It also makes concrete bricks, agricultural bedding sand and equestrian surfaces.
