You get John Deere Golf equipment, parts and service from one distributor if you run a golf course or sports turf facility in most of Texas or all of New Mexico. That distributor is Austin Turf & Tractor, based in Texas.

Its website says it supplies more than 800 golf courses and sports turf sites. It is one of the golf suppliers in the United States listed here.

New and pre-owned machines for your course

For new stock, you can choose John Deere Golf mowers and turf equipment, plus John Deere commercial and Worksite products. Allied lines named on its site include Dakota, Salsco, Bernhard, Wiedenmann, Alamo Industries and Barber.

Pre-owned machines come in two grades, each with a stated reel life and warranty.

• Grade A units get new filters, fluids, bedknives and rotary blades, reels with 80 to 100 percent life and a 60-day drivetrain, engine and transmission warranty.
• Grade B units carry reels with at least 55 percent life and a 30-day warranty.

If a covered part fails, the company says it will refund, repair or exchange the machine at its discretion.

Parts and service for your machines

• Parts come from three Texas locations backed by nine regional John Deere parts warehouses, with a stated 97.5 percent overnight fill rate. Larger customers can arrange on-site parts consignment.
• Service calls are, in most cases, scheduled within 24 hours, according to the company. Its technicians train at the John Deere factory, and larger customers can send their own technician to John Deere school.
• On-site work. Reel grinding and maintenance contracts are offered at your course.

Areas served and branches

Its territory covers Central and South Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and the Valley, New Mexico and El Paso, and North Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Amarillo, Abilene, Tyler and Longview. Branches are in Farmers Branch, Marble Falls, Haltom City and Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Leasing and public contracts

You can lease through John Deere Financial, including the JDC MasterLease that combines new and pre-owned machines in one lease, or through Wells Fargo. Public buyers can purchase through a government sales division under TASB, HGAC, Texas Multiple Award Schedule, GSA and NJPA contracts. Our guide to buying golf course machinery new, used or leased covers these routes. Other turf equipment suppliers listed here include Reesink Turfcare, Redexim UK and Baroness UK.

Company history and award

Its website gives 1992 as the year it was established, starting with golf and specialty turf in Central and South Texas. It added New Mexico and El Paso in 1996, North Texas in 1998 and a commercial mowing division for Dallas and Fort Worth in 2005. The company reports receiving John Deere’s Mark C. Rostvold Award as top distributor worldwide in 2001, 2005 and 2008.
