DryRainge sells portable, covered hitting bays for golf clubs and driving range operators, so your lessons, practice and pro shop demos can carry on through rain, wind or strong sun instead of being cancelled. You can choose a two-bay or three-bay shelter. The frame is 60mm galvanized steel tube, and the company’s own fitting team installs it across the United Kingdom, finishing on site within a day.
Two shelter sizes for coaching or group sessions
The covered hitting bay you need depends on how you teach. The 2-Bay DryRainge measures 7.6m wide, 3.6m deep and 3.3m high (25ft x 12ft x 11ft) under a 500gsm PVC cover. It gives an instructor and one pupil a semi-private space with room to watch the swing from every angle. The 3-Bay measures 10m by 3.6m and stands 3.6m high (about 33ft x 12ft x 11ft 10in) under a 500gsm polyethylene cover. Two bays can be in use while the rest of a junior or school group waits under cover, It also suits video swing analysis and pro shop club trials.
- Shell-shaped cover that blocks wind and rain and shades you from UV on hot days
- Galvanized frame finish that, the company says, resists corrosion, abrasion and sun fading
- Hitting from natural grass or from a semi-permanent pad with mats
Installation, fixings and add-ons
If you book installation, the fitters bring every part, put the shelter up in a day, and you can take bookings from the next day. DryRainge says its own installation is usually the more economical choice within the UK because of the system’s size and weight. If your own grounds staff want to fit it, instructions are in the downloads section, though the company warns that some parts are heavy to lift. Every shelter needs a ground fixing kit, and there are two styles, matched to the surface it will stand on.
You can move the modular shelter later to let the grass recover or to change your range layout. Optional wheels let a coach move it short distances for a lesson, such as chipping to a set pin. You can add a printed banner with your club or sponsor name, and on the 3-Bay it attaches to the back panel with Velcro so you can swap it. If a frame is damaged, the company will quote for repairing or replacing parts.
Where the design comes from
The shelter was first developed in Canada, where it was valued for UV protection and stability. Its creator, Bruce Rempel, has said the UK has been a strong market for it. It has also been used for archery, rifle shooting and as an open store for machinery and vehicles. Our driving range equipment checklist covers the other kit a range needs. Other range suppliers listed here include Range Master Golf Services, Huck Nets (UK) and Huxley Golf.
