Diamond Golf International

If you run a pro shop, a custom fitting studio or a club repair bench, Diamond Golf International gives you one trade-only source for the shafts, grips and clubheads needed to fit, build and repair any golf club, along with the workshop tools, machinery and staff training to do that work. Based in Arundel, West Sussex, and trading since 1978, the company describes itself as Europe’s only dedicated golf component supplier. You will find it among club fitting, repair and components specialists, in pro shop and golf retail supply and with other golf suppliers in the United Kingdom.

Components from named shaft, grip and clubhead brands

You can order parts from the brands shown on its website, which include Mitsubishi Chemical, Graphite Design, Aldila, UST, Nippon, KBS, True Temper, Project X, FST, Grafalloy, Golf Pride, Winn, Tacki-Mac, Avon, P2 and G-Rip. Diamond Golf has also owned Wishon Golf since October 2016, when club designer Tom Wishon sold the brand to it, so Wishon clubhead designs come through the same account. The Arundel warehouse holds more than 2,500 different products at any one time, and the company says most of the hundreds of orders it sends out each day leave on a same-day turnaround, which keeps a customer’s club from sitting in your workshop waiting for a part. Its range also covers workshop essentials, clubmaking machinery and training aids, and it lists workshop and repair services for golf clubs.

Club fitting and repair courses at DGI Academy

You can train yourself or your assistants at DGI Academy, opened in 2015 at the company’s UK headquarters as a purpose-built workshop and classroom with a GC2 launch monitor and HMT head measurement system by Foresight Sports. The four courses are The Art of Clubfitting, for people with basic custom fitting knowledge, with an optional one-day club repairs add-on; Advanced Clubfitting, covering profiling and matching methods; Complete Club Repairs; and Total Building, Fitting & Repairs, which combines the main courses into four days. The website says courses are certified and carry CPD points. Diamond Golf is an approved trainer to the Professional Golfers’ Association of Great Britain and runs seminars and tuition classes at PGA outlets around the country.

Trade accounts and family history

Supply is strictly to the golf trade, so you apply for an account through an online form and then buy through its online store. The business grew from a gap spotted in the mid-1970s by the late Chris Treacy, then shop manager at Oaks Park Golf Centre in Surrey, who saw that club professionals needed both repair tools and components and teaching in how to use them. His son Daren Treacy now runs the company as managing director, keeping that mix of supply and education.

Other UK golf suppliers listed here include TGI Golf, Foremost Golf and Brand Fusion.
