If you own or operate a golf facility, you can take your driving range, golf course and building plans to one firm for range design, build and refurbishing, course design and renovation, architectural design, performance and teaching centers, master plans and feasibility studies. That firm is Golf Design Unlimited, a golf design and project management company in Norwalk, Connecticut, in the United States, listed under golf course construction and design.
A new driving range or a refurbished one
For a new practice facility or range project, you get hitting areas laid out on one or several levels and landing areas shaped to play like holes on a course. The firm’s range page lists heated or air cooled hitting areas, automatic tees, yardage readers and solar energy options. If you already run a range, you can have hitting and landing areas redesigned and short game areas added or upgraded. Your modular hitting bay structures are designed and built by architect Mark Curtin, and the company says they are made to suit the conditions at each site.
Course design and renovation led by an ASGCA member
Your course work is led by Doug Smith, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, which puts the practice among the golf course architects listed here. His bio states more than 24 years of design, carried out with partner Stephen Kay, ASGCA. The company credits that partnership with over 250 course renovations, 20 new courses worldwide and more than 20 driving range complexes designed and built. Named new course locations include New York, New Jersey, North Dakota and India, with renovations in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Smith is also a USGA member and rules official, a Metropolitan Golf Association official and committeeman, and a GCSAA member, and has worked on First Tee projects.
