Masons Kings

Masons Kings gives golf courses in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall a local John Deere dealer for golf course equipment and maintenance, with a commercial grounds care range that covers mowing, transporting, scarifying and topdressing. You also get workshops at three depots, published service prices and a separate out-of-hours callout line for turf machinery. The family-run business says it has 40 years of experience as a machinery dealership.

Turf machinery you can buy

Its commercial grounds care portfolio is aimed at golf courses and sports pitches, as well as estates, holiday parks and public green spaces. The range is split into golf and sports turf equipment (64 listings), utility vehicles (46), tractor-mounted implements (40), commercial mowers (26), compact tractors (17), zero-turn mowers and Grillo machines. For smaller areas, you can buy John Deere X1 to X9 series ride-on mowers and ZTrak zero-turn models, STIHL cordless, petrol and walk-behind tools, scarifiers, aerators, rollers and sweepers. The shop also sells Kress EyePilot RTK robotic mowers, with the largest model rated for 1,500 m² at £2,199.

Used machinery and paying for it

If your budget points to used equipment, Masons Kings sells used machinery across all three depots through one dedicated used-machinery phone line, and its online machine finder lists current new and used stock. The company says it is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as a credit broker, not a lender. It also runs a price match promise on ride-on mowers. Before you compare quotes, the guide to buying golf course machinery new, used or leased covers the main choices.

Servicing, sharpening and parts

You can plan maintenance costs from prices the company publishes. Cylinder and bottom blade sharpening is offered at all depots from £127.50 per unit, ride-on mower services start at £235 plus VAT and compact tractor services at £400 plus VAT. NSTS sprayer testing costs from £210 plus VAT. Service packages and fixed price maintenance are available to commercial and homeowner customers.

The workshops at Exebridge near Dulverton, Chudleigh and St Columb are staffed by what the company calls certified technicians, including mobile technicians covering Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. Exebridge has its own out-of-hours turf service callout, separate from the agricultural and parts lines. Genuine and aftermarket John Deere parts and Gator utility vehicle accessories can be ordered online, and the site shows Masons Kings as a BAGMA member.
