Musco Sports Lighting, based in Oskaloosa, Iowa, sells you a complete LED lighting system for night golf on a public or private course, a driving range or a short course, with the lighting, electrical and structural parts designed to work together. The company says its warranty plans can cover parts and labor for up to 25 years, and its golf projects run from Las Vegas and Texas to South Korea.
Lighting options for your course or range
You can light a course or range for the first time, swap older metal halide or HID fixtures for LED, or hire temporary lighting for an event. Its TLC for LED luminaires use patented optics and visors that the company says virtually eliminate glare and spill, which matters if homes, roads or a nature reserve sit near your fairways. BallTracker luminaires, mounted low on poles, throw light upward so your players can follow the ball in flight. Design starts from your layout, the terrain on tees, greens and fairways, and how close neighbors are, and the system can switch off lights on sections of the course nobody is using.
Golf projects you can look at
- Salt Bay Golf Club in Siheung, South Korea: 605 LED luminaires replaced metal halide lights on an 18-hole course and range while the 121 existing poles and crossarms were kept, cutting energy use by 53 percent, with parts and labor covered until 2034.
- Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Texas: 70 fixtures light a 10-hole par-3 course, a two-acre putting green and six hitting bays, with poles and luminaires painted green to blend in.
- The Showdown at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas: 332 temporary fixtures on 87 scaffold towers lit the final 14 holes of a televised night event, then came down leaving the course undamaged.
Control, warranty and support after the install
With Control-Link you can switch lights on and off from a phone or computer, set schedules, run zones and receive automated outage alerts, and the company says its Control-Link service center monitors systems around the clock. Under its warranty plans you do not budget for maintenance or lift equipment, and Musco says it draws on more than 1,000 qualified contractors and regional technicians. Each installation comes with a detailed scope of work, project management and a full system design, and Musco Finance, its own finance team, handles funding questions.
Where Musco works
Besides its US headquarters, the company lists offices in Shanghai and Incheon and a manufacturing site in Gumi, South Korea. You will find it among driving range equipment suppliers and golf suppliers in the United States, and if lights are one part of a wider range project, our driving range equipment checklist sets out the other items. Other golf suppliers listed here include Toptracer, Range Servant and Golf Range Netting.
