If you operate a driving range in the United States, you can have automated ball collection and ball-handling equipment planned, installed and supported for you, plus a connection to Inrange radar ball tracking. OnPar Automation, a company in Lakewood, Colorado, provides both.
OnPar describes itself as a U.S.-based Relox Robotics partner whose team was trained by Relox and is authorized to install and service the Relox Robotics Range Picker. It is also an authorized agent for Inrange.
A driverless ball picker that runs on your schedule
The Range Picker gives you a battery-powered, driverless golf ball picker that follows high-precision GPS, mapped boundaries and a schedule you program, with no perimeter wires. OnPar lists these figures for it:
- Up to 60,000 balls a day when scheduled across the day
- About 1,000 balls per trailer load before it drives to its drop-off point
- Up to 6 hours of picking per charge and about 2 hours to recharge, with automatic return to its charging station
- Operation on grades of 12 to 14%, with dual ultrasonic sensors and a front contact bumper
You set picking areas, obstacle areas, slow zones and schedules in the Relox App. Each system comprises the robot and trailer, a charging station and a GPS base station. If noise matters at your site, OnPar’s decibel tests at a Charlotte, North Carolina install recorded about 62 dB beside the bridge and 60 to 70 dB at 100 yards.
Three ways to unload balls at your range
- The Bridge gives you an above-ground, no-power unit that tips balls into removable baskets, in 4,000, 6,000 and 18,000-ball configurations.
- An integrated ball pit feeds transport and washing equipment on the way to storage or a dispenser.
- A Range Servant golf ball ditch can act as the receiving point if your range runs Range Servant equipment.
The company says pit systems may incorporate AOS or Range Servant components.
Radar shot tracking for your range
For range ball tracking, OnPar connects you with Inrange, whose radar system supports practice data, games and bay vs bay team play. Inrange states that its engineers spend around 7 to 14 days on site.
Range Picker sites you can check and ask to visit
OnPar’s locations page lists 42 Range Picker installs across 16 states, marking the ones OnPar installed, including Desert Mountain Golf Club and Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Charlotte Country Club, Sand Hollow Resort in Utah and Meadow Park Golf Course in Tacoma. Visits to host sites can be arranged when schedules allow.
Setup and support you get from OnPar
OnPar sites the charger, base station and drop-off for you, then installs, maps your range, sets the first schedule and trains your staff. An active support plan gives you Relox App access, cellular connectivity, remote monitoring and troubleshooting from a team working in U.S. time zones. The team cites 25 years of driving range industry experience.
