If you manage or work on a golf course in Canada, membership gives you purchasing discounts and rebates, education, accreditation, job postings and a yearly conference and trade show reserved for golf course staff. The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) is a national professional society for golf course superintendents, with offices in Mississauga, Ontario and in Ottawa.
What CGSA membership gives you
Member types it names include superintendents, assistant superintendents, equipment technicians and students. Benefits it lists include:
- The Golfmax Purchasing Program, negotiated with NGCOA Canada for volume discounts and rebates, where the CGSA reports average annual member savings above $900.
- Complimentary Golf Canada membership.
- Award programs worth up to $10,000, including student scholarships.
- Free access to all content in the CGSA Live Learning Centre.
- SuperSearch, the association’s job posting service.
- The quarterly GreenMaster magazine, monthly GreenMatter and weekly On-the-Fringe updates.
- A Homewood Health member assistance add-on for $60.
Where the CGSA works across Canada
Its website says it supports golf course management and environmental responsibility through the continuing professional development of approximately 1,000 members. Its staff list includes contacts for the British Columbia Golf Superintendents Association and for operations in Quebec. It sits among the golf industry organizations and suppliers in Canada and is relevant to anyone selling golf course equipment and maintenance products to Canadian courses.

The CGSA’s main annual gathering, the Canadian Golf Course Management Conference and Trade Show, runs February 23 to 25, 2027 at the Halifax Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The trade show opens at 10am on Wednesday, February 24, and the event page says trade show access is for golf course staff only. Published prices include:
- All Access at $695 for members booking early, $795 from January 16 and $999 on site, or $1,135 early for non-members, covering the trade show, Wednesday lunch and online session recordings.
- Single-day Tuesday or Wednesday passes from $359 for members.
- Trade show only at $139 for members and $249 for non-members.
- A $250 student package, which excludes the awards lunch and the Wednesday evening party.
- Exhibitor booths at $1,995, including three supplier registrations.
The program also lists an opening social, an awards luncheon on February 23 and a party night on February 24. Its calendar shows the BCGSA 2026 Professional Development Days on December 1, 2026. To compare it with the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show, the NGCOA Golf Business Conference and BTME, see the guide to golf trade shows in 2026 and 2027.
Accreditation the CGSA links to higher pay
The association says its surveys show accredited superintendents and assistants earn more. A Professional Development and Accreditation Committee oversees the Accredited Golf Superintendent (AGS) designation and an accreditation for assistant superintendents. Professional members sign a code of ethics that commits them to continuing education, honest business dealings and avoiding conflicts of interest.
Sustainability guidance and recognition
The CGSA lists the GEO Sustainable Golf in Canada program among member benefits and has published the first provincial edition of its Sustainable Best Management Practices for Golf Courses, written for British Columbia. It marked Thank a Superintendent Day on September 8, 2026 with profiles of nine Canadian superintendents and assistant superintendents.
